Genesis Foundation LAMDA Scholars update

Current Genesis Foundation LAMDA scholars Ciarán Owens and Alisha Williams graduate with flying colours this week. Both scholars have successfully secured agent representation, with Ciaran already having landed his first professional job. Ciaran will be appearing in an episode of BBC drama series Wallander alongside Kenneth Branagh. We wish Ciarán and Alisha the best of luck in their careers and we will be keeping a close eye on their careers.

On June 14, The Sixteen will be performing a concert of new Genesis Foundation commissions by Ruth Byrchmore, Tarik O'Regan and Roderick Williams alongside music by Spain's greatest Renaissance composer Tomás Luis de Victoria, marking the 400th anniversary of his death (1548-1611).  All tickets have now been allocated and we are no longer accepting applications.

In June 2008, at Westminster Cathedral, The Sixteen and Harry Christophers gave premieres of three works commissioned by the Genesis Foundation, all settings of Padre Pio’s prayer Stay with Me, Lord.

The productive partnership between The Sixteen and the Genesis Foundation continues with the release in May 2011 of a CD of six new choral works from three of Britain’s most exciting contemporary composers: Tarik O’Regan, Roderick Williams and Ruth Byrchmore.

Genesis LAMDA Scholar Samuel Barnett to lead the cast in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead in the West End

Genesis Foundation LAMDA Scholar Samuel Barnett (Class of 2001) is to play Rosencrantz in Tom Stoppard’s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead alongside Jamie Parker (Guildenstern) and Tim Curry (The Player).

Genesis Foundation LAMDA Scholar Samuel Barnett (Class of 2001) is to play Rosencrantz in Tom Stoppard’s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead alongside Jamie Parker (Guildenstern) and Tim Curry (The Player). The production is to be directed by Trevor Nunn in his role as Artistic Director after the recent success of Terence Rattigan’s Flare Path. Following a three week run at the Chichester Festival Theatre, the play will open at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from 16 June – 20 August, with press night on 21 June 2011.

Remembrance Day by Aleksey Scherbak, translated by Rory Mullarkey, has now sold out for the rest of its highly successful run at the Royal Court Theatre. The play is part of the International Playwrights Season and is supported by the Genesis Foundation who celebrate 15 years of pioneering international work with the Royal Court Theatre in 2011.

The Romsey Choral Society perform Will Todd’s “Stay with me Lord” in Romsey Abbey

The 2008 Genesis Foundation commission, Stay with me Lord, has been performed again by the Romsey Choral Society and you can watch this performance on Youtube.

In 2008, the Genesis Foundation commissioned Will Todd to be part of the Padre Pio Project and to be one of the composers setting the Saint Pio Prayer, Stay with me Lord. The piece was premiered by The Sixteen at Westminster Cathedral on 3 June 2008 and along with settings by James MacMillan and Roxanna Panufnik were recorded and released on a disc entitled, Padre Pio Prayer.
