The Genesis Foundation is pleased to announce its LAMDA scholar for 2011. This year’s choice is 18-year old Abu Salim from Welwyn Garden City, who particularly impressed the judges with his maturity and ambition.
The Genesis Foundation is pleased to announce its LAMDA scholar for 2011. Recipients of the scholarship receive the support of the Genesis Foundation to help fund their studies during the course of their time at LAMDA, and are chosen from the annual student intake by a panel of judges.
Current Genesis Foundation LAMDA scholars Ciarán Owens and Alisha Williams graduate with flying colours this week. Both scholars have successfully secured agent representation, with Ciaran already having landed his first professional job. Ciaran will be appearing in an episode of BBC drama series Wallander alongside Kenneth Branagh. We wish Ciarán and Alisha the best of luck in their careers and we will be keeping a close eye on their careers.

Sam Swann (class of 2009) and current scholar Ciarán Owens have enjoyed success in A Butcher of Distinction this April at the King’s Head in London, directed by Ned Bennett. The play, which transferred from the Cock Tavern Theatre, is 75 minutes long and features Ciarán as a young butcher and Sam as his brother.

Genesis Foundation LAMDA Scholar Samuel Barnett (Class of 2001) is to play Rosencrantz in Tom Stoppard’s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead alongside Jamie Parker (Guildenstern) and Tim Curry (The Player).
Genesis Foundation LAMDA Scholar Samuel Barnett (Class of 2001) is to play Rosencrantz in Tom Stoppard’s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead alongside Jamie Parker (Guildenstern) and Tim Curry (The Player). The production is to be directed by Trevor Nunn in his role as Artistic Director after the recent success of Terence Rattigan’s Flare Path. Following a three week run at the Chichester Festival Theatre, the play will open at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from 16 June – 20 August, with press night on 21 June 2011.

Over the Christmas period, LAMDA Genesis Scholar Ben Aldridge was in Toast on BBC1 alongside awarding-winning LAMDA alumnae, Victoria Hamilton and Clare Higgins. This was an adaptation of Nigel Slater’s celebrated memoir and was watched by 6.2 million viewers according to The Guardian.
