Genesis Fellow and acclaimed theatre director Joe Hill-Gibbins directs the Young Vic’s hotly-anticipated production of Thomas Middleton and William Rowley’s Jacobean masterpiece, The Changeling, from 26 January to 18 February. Joe Hill-Gibbins wows critics with 2011 revival of The Beauty Queen of Leenane

The “supremely talented” director Joe Hill-Gibbins was interviewed in this month’s i-D magazine online. Joe Hill-Gibbins is the first ever recipient of the Genesis Fellowship, a two-year grant that enables recipients to work closely with the Young Vic's artistic director David Lan in order to develop their craft as a theatre director.

Following his success directing Martin McDonagh’s celebrated play The Beauty Queen of Leenane earlier this year, Young Vic Genesis Fellow Joe Hill-Gibbins has recently received critical acclaim for his revival of Tennessee Williams’s renowned play, The Glass Menagerie.

Genesis Fellow Joe Hill-Gibbins has received high critical acclaim for his revival of Martin McDonagh’s celebrated play, The Beauty Queen of Leenane.

The Beauty Queen Of Leenane established McDonagh's reputation on its premiere at the Royal Court in 1996, winning him Evening Standard and Critics' Circle awards and a Laurence Olivier Award nomination. It subsequently transferred to Broadway where it won a Tony Award for Best Play.

Joe Hill-Gibbins is to become the first Genesis Fellow at the Young Vic.  Developing its long association with the Young Vic, the Genesis Foundation has awarded a grant for two years for this new position.  In his new role as deputy artistic director, Joe will support David Lan in all aspects of the work of the theatre while continuing to direct.  His next production will be the first major London revival of The Beauty Queen of Leenane by Martin McDonagh this July in the Main House.

Joe Hill-Gibbins has been appointed the first Genesis Fellow at the Young Vic Theatre.  The Genesis Foundation is awarding a grant for two years for this new position.  This will enable Joe to work closely with artistic director David Lan as he continues to develop his craft as a theatre director.

In February this year, eight young directors travelled to St Petersburg to train with legendary Russian director Lev Dodin at the Maly Drama Theatre.

William Oldroyd is a participant on the Genesis Foundation’s Wilson Brothers scheme at the Young Vic theatre in London. As part of this programme of work, he directed a workshop production of Ibsen’s Ghosts.
