For the third time, in 2002 the Genesis Foundation was proud to fund the International Playwrights Season at the Royal Court Theatre in London.
This year two new plays (one from Germany and one from Russia) emerged from the continuous and ongoing work of the International Department. They were being given full productions at the Jerwood Theatre Upstairs and were accompanied by a series of related events.
A Season at the Royal Court
As the prime supporter, Genesis has been instrumental in the development of International Playwrights Seasons from the very beginning. From Autumn 2002, Genesis is also the principal sponsor for the Royal Court's UK Young Playwrights Season.

Genesis recognizes that work of this level, complexity and quality can only exist because of an ongoing programme and the non-stop commitment of the Royal Court. Ian Rickson, the Artistic Director; Elyse Dodgson, who heads the International Department; and their teams are today carrying on the tradition of the Royal Court of working with great dedication to and understanding of the continuity and continual development that are important aspects of the work behind all the plays performed in Sloane Square.
Genesis matches the commitment of these pioneering professionals with its long term substantial support of the Royal Court in
The British Council also supports the International Department of the Royal Court in this work.
