Maly Theatre: Talkback Event

2 – 4pm, Young Vic Theatre

In February this year, eight young directors travelled to St Petersburg to train with legendary Russian director Lev Dodin at the Maly Drama Theatre.

This Talkback event is an opportunity to hear the directors describe their experiences, and discuss the discoveries they made about the purpose and practice of directing.

Joining the discussion with be Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod, Artistic directors of Cheek by Jowl, who have a unique insight into the working methods of the Maly, and also the opportunities and challenges faced when engaging with different theatre cultures.

Audience members will be able to ask questions and join the discussion.

Michael Coveney will chair proceedings.

This initiative is part of the Genesis Directors Project, with generous support from the Quercus Trust.

All tickets are free and can be booked in advance from the Young Vic box office.

An Update on LAMDA Genesis Foundation Scholars Thursday, 19 August 2010

Paul Tinto (class of 2010) is currently understudying in the critically acclaimed Black Watch at the Barbican Theatre which will run from 27th November 2010 to 22nd January 2011. Meanwhile, Tom Riley (class of 2005) will soon be appearing in the ITV1 drama A Bouquet of Barbed Wire alongside Trevor Eve and fellow LAMDA alumnus, Hermione Norris.
