
A short-listed opera that began as workshops in the very first Genesis Opera Project has now reached completion. Non Guardate was performed to great public interest and acclaim in Milan on 8 April 2008. It was also broadcast on RAI throughout Italy.

The opera deals with the kidnapping and captivity of the Italian premier Aldo Morro in 1978. Part docu-drama and part lyric theatre piece, thirty years later this is still a powerful political story in Italy and one that resonates with contemporary issues.

This is the 11th of the 12 projects that were initiated during the Genesis Opera Projects 1 and 2 that have now reached the stage. They have not always ended up exactly as originally planned. For example, Sunset with Pink Pastoral, was transformed into a piece of music theatre for presentation in Seattle.
