Natalie Carter and Hayley Stobo have performed on the Bolshoi stage for the first time in the prestigious annual Repertoire Concert. You can watch their final performance of the Grand Pas Duet here on Youtube.
Natalie has written about the experience in her blog:
"Unlike the auditions, I wasn’t nervous because I had already danced in front of everyone I was anxious dancing in front of. I enjoyed every moment on the stage; it reminded me why I am studying ballet in Russia and it definitely induced further determination to continue working hard to achieve my goals. I made mistakes as you can see if you watch the videos, but that gives me something to work on! I need to keep calm under pressure!"
Natalie also auditioned a contemporary piece, the rehearsal of which you can watch here. Sadly, the piece didn't make it into the final concert but Natalie was still praised by her teachers. She writes in her blog:
"I was pulled aside by my teacher and the international department who assured me that they loved the contemporary number. They insisted that I cannot forget the piece because it suits me so well and I capture the emotion needed to perform it, and after a change around of the choreography and corps dancers, I will be given the chance to perform it in the future; so this week really has been full of great experiences and news!"
