James comes from Cumbria and was educated at the Austin Friars School in Carlisle. At Austin Friars, James was actively involved in all aspects of school life as a Music Prefect, Head of House and Chairman of the Charities Committee. He also participated in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, completing his Gold Award, and was a keen sportsman, representing Cumbria in rugby.
James has been interested in theatre from an early age. He was encouraged to take LAMDA Examinations in the speaking of Verse and Prose, and also won numerous prizes at the Carlisle Music Festival for acting and verse speaking. At Austin Friars, James performed in a number of school productions. His roles included playing Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Professor Higgins in My Fair Lady.
James was inspired to come to LAMDA after completing a National Youth Theatre (NYT) residential course.
James recently graduated from LAMDA’s Three-Year Acting Course, following two fantastic and highly-acclaimed final performances in Comedians and Journey’s End.
James is represented by Waring & McKenna.
