As supporters of the biennial International Playwrights Seasons at the Royal Court, the Genesis Foundation is pleased to get behind the similar initiative of the Royal Court that helps develop new writers for theatre in the UK.
The 2002 UK Young Writers Festival was called IMPRINT.
IMPRINT YWF 2002
Early in 2002, the Royal Court Young Writers Programme began a nationwide hunt for original young playwrights. Writers were invited to 'make their mark' and write a play on any subject, in any style and of any length. The culmination of this search was IMPRINT, a celebration of new writing.
Many writers whose work was first produced in previous Young Writers Festivals have gone on to become established and award-winning playwrights.

The Productions for Autumn 2002 were presented in the JERWOOD THEATRE UPSTAIRS between 18 October and 23 November. Where plays of varying lengths were performed. As well as full productions, there were rehearsed readings from ten young playwrights to get as much exposure as possible for writers of great potential. These ten were selected from over 350 scripts submitted by young unknown playwrights all over the UK.
