The highs and lows of life at the Bolshoi

Friday, 27 April 2012

Natalie Carter and Hayley Stobo continue to inspire young dancers with their frank and honest blogs documenting the highs and lows that come with training at the prestigious Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Russia.

The girls are currently working towards completing their end of second year exams, and as a mark of their success, both were recently chosen to take part in the Annual Repertoire Performance for the second year running. However, Hayley unfortunately experienced a nasty fall and injured her foot, which means that she is unable to perform this time.

In an emotional blog post, Hayley talks about her determination to complete her exams despite her injury:

“Unfortunately my body has stopped me (just for a short while) from doing what I love most but I feel now is my time to shine and I am going to do my utmost to get to the level of dancing that I am proud of by summer!”

In Natalie’s latest blog post, she talks about the thrill of taking part in a masterclass with dance legend Arthur Mitchell, teaching English, and her difficulty in overcoming homesickness.

The Genesis Foundation wishes Hayley a swift recovery and both girls every success in their exams.
