GOP2 - Commissions

1 March 2004

Second Genesis Opera Project (GOP2) reaches first stage of commissions

Workshop performances at Sadler's Wells

The second Genesis Opera Project (GOP2) completed a major phase of its process with the workshops held in March 2004. After several days of intense rehearsals and workshop tryouts, each of the six projects chosen was presented to invited audiences of around 100 people - mainly opera professionals - as work in progress.

This is all happened in the Lilian Baylis Theatre and other spaces at Sadler's Wells and culminated on Sunday 14 and Monday 15 March when, in collaboration with Sadler's Wells, the presentations of each of the short-listed projects took place. The aim was to find three operas that could be fully commissioned for production in the autumn of 2005. Select an opera from the list below to read more. We are also posting the names of the actors and musicians involved in the presentations and the Forward from the programme by the Genesis Foundation Chairman, John Studzinski.
