PRESS RELEASE
GENESIS SUMMER DRINKS PARTY

Friday, 23 June 2006 GENESIS SUMMER DRINKS PARTY

Featuring the UK premiere of Among Angels by Will Todd
Performed by The Sixteen & Harry Christophers

Tuesday 27 June 2006 at 6.00 pm - The Genesis Foundation, founded by John Studzinski to nurture emerging talent in the arts and to encourage new audiences, is hosting its annual summer drinks party at St Yeghiche Church in South Kensington. This Armenian Church was recently restored and made into a concert hall by Bob and Tamar Manoukian through their foundation.

The highlight of the evening will be the UK premiere of Among Angels. This choral work was commissioned by the Genesis Foundation from composer Will Todd and writer Ben Dunwell. It was given its world premiere on 19 March 2006 on the occasion of John Studzinski's 50th birthday in the Parish and Pilgrimage Church, St Wolfgang, near Salzburg.

When Will Todd and Ben Dunwell accepted the commission from Genesis they were already interested in 'angel voices' and had experimented in a number of previous collaborations with the dramatic possibilities that 'angel voices' presented. They saw this Genesis commission as an opportunity for further exploration of this strand of their work. Clearly it was an opportunity for using multi-voiced textures. Will Todd's commitment to The Sixteen as performers of Among Angels was part of the concept from the start, even before a note was written.
