Genesis LAMDA Scholar update

Wednesday, 18 May 2011

Sam Swann (class of 2009) and current scholar Ciarán Owens have enjoyed success in A Butcher of Distinction this April at the King’s Head in London, directed by Ned Bennett. The play, which transferred from the Cock Tavern Theatre, is 75 minutes long and features Ciarán as a young butcher and Sam as his brother.

Michael Billington writes on the Guardian website that A Butcher of Distinction "has all the marks of genuine promise".

James Atherton (class of 2008) is currently filming for his first major TV role since graduating. He has landed the part of new character Will Savage in Hollyoaks. James was interviewed by Reveal magazine about his exciting new role and you can read the interview on the Digital Spy website.

Atherton commented: "It all happened really quickly and I'd started filming before I had time to think. Everyone's just been so friendly and made it really easy to settle in. Will is awkward, shy and a hopeless romantic that hopefully the viewers will fall in love with."
