
Current Genesis Foundation LAMDA scholars Ciarán Owens and Alisha Williams graduate with flying colours this week. Both scholars have successfully secured agent representation, with Ciarán already having landed his first professional job. Ciarán will be appearing in an episode of BBC drama series Wallander alongside Kenneth Branagh. Filming for the episode will begin in Sweden in August. Ciarán Owens has also been nominated by LAMDA as their entrant in the 2011 Annual Spotlight Prize in which 22 students, one from each CDS drama school, compete for the prestigious award in front of a room full of industry professionals.
We wish Ciarán and Alisha the best of luck in their careers and we will be keeping a close eye on their careers.
In other LAMDA news, following on from his success as Septimus Hodge in Tom Stoppard’s Arcadia on Broadway, Tom Riley (class of 2005) will be appearing as ‘Richard’ in Stephen Poliakoff’s My City at the Almeida Theatre, Islington this autumn. Meanwhile 2010 graduate Sam Swann is currently in rehearsals for Arnold Wesker’s The Kitchen. Sam will play the part of Dmitri in the show, which opens at the National Theatre at the end of August. For further details about the show, please visit the National Theatre's website.
Nick Julian (class of 2009) will be appearing as ‘Mr Till’ in feature film The Dark Knight Rises directed by Christopher Nolan. Nick will be appearing alongside Anne Hathaway, Christian Bale and Liam Neeson in the film, which is due for release in 2012.
Samuel Barnett (class of 2001) will play Rosencrantz in Tom Stoppard’s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, directed by Trevor Nunn, alongside Jamie Parker and Tim Curry. The production opened in May at the Chichester Festival Theatre and is currently playing at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in the West End until 20 August. Further details can be found here.
