The Genesis Foundation collaborated with the opera company Tête à Tête. Having supported Tête à Tête’s Blind Date Tour of 2007, Genesis then committed further to the company.
The main purpose of the Genesis/Tête à Tête partnership was to work together on audience development in the field of innovative, contemporary opera.
John Studzinski, Founder and Chairman of the Genesis Foundation, said: “The work of Tête à Tête fits well with our brief to help develop new audiences. I have been impressed for some time by the brilliant and innovative marketing approaches of Bill Bankes-Jones and his team as well as by the quality of their productions. Our first collaboration was with Push!, David Bruce & Anna Reynold’s opera that reached the final of our Genesis Opera Project. We thought Bill and Tête à Tête would be the ideal team to produce it. It was a huge success thanks to him and is still talked about today. We are delighted to be adding Tête à Tête to our roster of partners.”
Tête à Tête believes that innovative, challenging and high-quality contemporary opera can make a great night out for everyone. In 1997 Tête à Tête was born from this passion and the belief that opera is a living form that can still touch people’s hearts and therefore change their lives like no other art form. The commitment of Tête à Tête is to ensuring that this power will be felt as widely as possible.
Over the past decade Tête à Tête has employed more than 200 artists to present the world premières of 34 stage works by 29 different composers, to thousands of people from South Devon to Shetland.
